Professional background

Jeanie has been a scientific editor since coming to MD Anderson in 2002. She spent the previous 20 years in the oil and gas industry, where she learned manuscript editing, graphic design, and image generation for publications and presentations and web design and production. The need to prepare complicated documents and presentations has led to proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Reference Manager.

In her position in the Department of Symptom Research, Jeanie serves as the scientific editor and the primary coordinator for manuscript preparation and submission, including substantive text editing and formatting, image production, literature searches, and background writing. She assists the department chairman with special projects and presentations, grant and protocol production, and content development for the department’s website and newsletter. She most recently served as project manager for, and completed all scientific editing of, the book Cancer Symptom Science: Measurement, Mechanisms, and Management, the first interdisciplinary compilation of research on the mechanisms underlying the expression of cancer-related symptoms.
