John P. McGovern Award |

The John P. McGovern Award was established in 1982 by the Southwest Chapter of American Medical Writers Association to recognize excellence in the field of medical communications. The award is named for John P. McGovern, MD, founder and director of the McGovern Allergy Clinic in Houston and a noted educator, author, and historian. Dr. McGovern was a past member of the Southwest Chapter of AMWA and was an AMWA Fellow from 1967 until his death in 2007. The award is presented at the January Chapter banquet meeting. |
McGovern Award Recipients 2010 - Megan Cole Megan Cole, who originated the leading role in Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize winning drama "Wit" in 1995, is Artist-in-Residence at the McGovern Center for Health, Humanities, and the Human Spirit at The University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center.
